In the News: Many well-known rappers have started showing their support online over President Donald Trump. Many of these rappers including Lil Pump, Kanye West, and 50 Cent.
Many have begun to publicly endorse Trump after multiple media companies publicly stated that Joe Biden’s tax policy could cause rates of up to 62% for richer Californians and New Yorkers. Rapper Lil Pump took to an Instagram story on Sunday evening to say “All I gotta say is Trump 2020” and said he disagrees with Joe Biden’s Tax policy. Biden’s tax policy would eventually raise taxes on people who earn over $400,000. Lil Pump is an American Rapper well known for his single release of “Gucci Gang” in 2017. Following his Instagram story, he posted a picture with Donald Trump with the hashtag “trump202022020”.
American Rapper Curtis James Jackson III who is known by his artist name “50 Cent” took to Instagram last week to post a picture that shows what the future tax rates in Both New York and California would look like if Joe Biden wins the 2020 presidential race. However, 50 cent has been showing his support towards Trump for some time now, in April he tweeted a picture of what looks like Trump’s face structure and hair photoshopped with 50 cent’s face. In this Tweet, he says he would “get rid of anyone who dares to report anything negative about our leader.” 50 cent is well known for his music as well as having dated American Comedian, Chelsea Handler, in 2011. They had a relationship that Handler stated was “very casual”. Handler recently spoke up about ex-boyfriend’s public endorsement on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She told Fallon that she is willing to “go for another spin with him” if he changes his mind on who he wants to publicly endorse. 50 Cent commented back by posting a clip of this interview on Instagram with the caption that said he no longer liked Trump if it meant he could go for “another spin” meaning getting a second chance with Handler.
Another rapper that has publicly endorsed President Donald Trump is Kanye West, since the year 2016 , after meeting with Trump at the Trump Tower in New York City. In a series of tweets, Kanye said “[trump] is my brother. I love everyone”. To which Trump responded, on Twitter, with “thank you Kanye for your support”. However, in a recent interview with Forbes magazine back in July, Kanye explained that he would be taking his red MAGA hat off. This comes after his announcement of running in the 2020 presidential race along with Trump.
Who are the major players? 50 Cent, Kanye West, Lil Pump, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden.
What the left is saying? Many Lil Pump fans took to Twitter to show their disappointment towards the artist by saying that he has no right in using such profound language and to tell others to vote for Trump instead of Biden.
What the right is saying? When reporters asked Donald Trump if he was involved with getting Kanye West on the 2020 presidential ballot he responded with “I like him. He’s always been very nice to me”.
